A GAME FROM AUGY'S LAB
A turn-based RPG in the style of the 16-bit classics, where every swing is a dice roll. Four small Knights, one meadow, and a Sparrow Prince who has taxed it for far too long.
An early alpha, made for fun. Expect some broken sprites, rough spots and unpolished parts, and expect things to change.

OCTAVIAN AND THE KNIGHTS OF THE MEADOW
THE STORY
The Meadow lived in peace under the old Rabbit King.
Then the King vanished, and the Sparrow Prince seized the Nest of Thorns.
He taxed the fields. He caged anyone who spoke against him.
And under a giant clover, a young rabbit dreamed of four Knights...
That young rabbit is Octavian, and Octavian and the Knights of the Meadow is a story RPG you can play with the whole family: cute heroes, villains who take themselves very seriously, and battles that end in K.O.s and nothing worse. Explore by keyboard or gamepad, talk to everyone, and find out how a feather tax gets overthrown.
2ACT 1 · SPARKS IN THE GRASS
Octavian wakes beneath the clover, and somewhere nearby a voice is shouting. A tax collector is at the Elder Neighbor's burrow:
By decree of Prince Sparrow -- two baskets and the blanket. Move.
We gave last week... we have nothing.
Take what I have. Leave her be.
Another soft heart for the cages. Fine.
That's the first battle. Win it and the Elder Neighbor gives Octavian her old charm, and tells him about three others: Shadow, fighting scouts in the woods; Henry, guarding his carrots; and Thumper, rallying the field mice.
3MEET THE KNIGHTS
Each Knight has a weapon and a field skill. Out in the meadow, swap who leads the party and use their skill to get where the others can't.

SLIP squeezes through gaps in the hedges.
“You're late. I already finished the first two.”

“About time. I'll take the front.”

Shortbow 1d6+SPD
HOP springs right over fallen logs.
“So... where do Knights go first?”
THE SPARROW COURT
The villains are drawn like they walked out of a serious anime. The heroes are rabbits, and they are not intimidated.
Seized the Nest of Thorns when the old Rabbit King vanished. He taxes the fields and cages anyone who speaks against him.
He keeps the Sunflower Fields under his wing, and waits for the Knights at the end of Act 1.
They ambush the Knights in the sunflowers, with a Spear Jab that rolls 1d6+1.
The sky belongs to the strong. You soft little things should have stayed in your burrows.
How do the Knights answer? The game lets you pick:
THE DICE
The battles run on real tabletop rules, and nothing is hidden. Every hit pops up its dice: who's attacking, who they're aiming at, the weapon, the roll it needed and what came up.
THE DICE BAG Press a die to roll it
A d20 decides every hit. The weapon picks the damage dice.
Every swing starts with a d20 plus the attacker's bonus. Meet or beat the target's Defense and it lands.
The weapon decides the damage dice: Shadow's twin daggers roll 1d4+1, Henry's heavy club rolls 1d8. Then add a stat bonus: Power for Octavian's staff and Henry's club, Speed for Shadow's daggers and Thumper's bow.
A natural 20 always hits, doubles the damage dice and Staggers the target, so its next roll is at disadvantage.
A natural 1 always misses and leaves the attacker Off-Balance, with lower Defense until their next turn.
Defend adds 4 to your Defense until your next turn. Hitting an enemy's elemental weakness does half again as much damage. Don't like seeing the math? Switch the dice popup off in Options.
6IN BATTLE
Side-view battles with a turn order bar across the top. Pick Fight, Magic, Skill, Item or Defend for each Knight, then watch the dice fall.
Sparrow foot-soldiers ambush you in the sunflowers, and Talon, the Hawk Enforcer, waits at the end of Act 1.
Every two levels you choose which stat goes up, and the menu tells you what each one does. Try it: move the cursor over a stat.
Power Weapon damage
Hit harder with weapons and weapon skills.
Speed Dodge, aim, speed
Dodge more, hit more often, act sooner, flee.
Heart HP, toughness
More HP each level. Resist poison, fear and confusion.
Spark Magic, MP
Stronger magic and healing. More MP each level.
